Brown admitted she contemplated chasing a record-breaking seventh Pier to Pub crown, but will remain in her home state of Queensland to continue recover from season-ending surgery.

A dual world champion paddleboarder and elite ironwoman, Ocean Grove export Brown will miss the Pier to Pub for the first time in five years.

“I would absolutely love to swim, but at the moment I can’t run out of the water,” said Brown, who underwent surgery last month to insert screws in her foot after a high-level separation and torn ligaments between her big and second toe.

“I did have a think about it, but I’m on crutches and I get too competitive. So I just thought I’d rest up.”
